Overview

All I wanted was to make the these pieces of audio hardware look as precise as they sound.

Since this was my first dive into engineered hard surface products with standard sizing, I made an concious effort to use plenty of reference photos to base the dimensions. However, over the time working on them I made a few passes refining the small details and surface textures as I developed a look and environmental presence.

Challenges

Making accurate LED lights, buttons, and VU meters was particularily difficult to nail down. The silk screen layerd with the textured front panel was a cornerstone for the level of detail this model would call for. Adding slight noise and imperfections while maintaining a clean look was tricky.

Lessons Learned

Lighting sweeps over the textured front surface was key for displaying the elegance of the front panel and controls. Precision from the modeling stage will only help with ultra-closeups. Camera rigging with physically accurate bumps and movements helped create the feeling of handheld camera work.
